How's baby growing?
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus.
You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.
See what your baby looks like this week:
Ok, I like the "kicking;" but, this cartoon seems to be a more accurate representation of what Trey does (bouncing and rolling around):Comments for Colleen:This week is going to be a big week. We will start Lamaze class and meet the pediatrician. We are also going to go pick out paint and put together the car seat/stroller (unless it rains, of course . . . Arizona people don't go outside if it is raining). Anyway, I'd like to do something like the picture below, but we'll see how quickly I give up on that one.
Anyway, I've started packing my hospital bag, although it seems kinda silly since we only 5 minutes away from the hospital. Lastly, we are planning on taking one more hiking trip (and introducing Eric to hiking, or "our" version of hiking at least), although I'm still trying to convince Patrick we can go on our regular route (here). We also need to pick curtains at some point, but my dilemma is threefold. One, we are just gonna use tension rods because the walls here are almost impossible to nail into, which is limiting. Two, do I need to block out all the light, or not? Three, I don't know how to hang a curtain! These are my favorites in terms of look. These look pretty cute and are much cheaper than Pottery Barn but kinda boring, and these are good because they have a blackout liner, but I don't think they would look good hanging from a tension rod . . . This kinda seems like a grandma job.
P.S. Hank checked another Marley and Me item off of our list. Remember the scene where Marley runs through the open house and jumps in the pool? - "Whose dog is that?" (see 1:49) Well, about a month ago, when Patrick was taking out the trash, Hank slipped into the alley. The folks a few houses down were having an open house, and their gate was open. Hank decided they needed his help, so he bust in and jumped into their pool! Awesome.
