Agility Puppies

Dagny and Hank have now had three agility lessons, and they are getting a lot better every week. They love doing it and get really excited every time we pull up (it’s pretty fun for us too!) Here are a couple videos of us practicing at the dog park.

This video wasn’t there best run, but it is the best one we filmed. They really do love doing the tunnel, and while we are trying to practice something else, they will run off and go through it over and over again. But, when we put it in the middle of other obstacles, they get confused and don’t want to do it. We don’t really get it, but they are learning fast so I bet they’ll figure it out soon!

Dagny is really good at the weave polls, but we still have to lead her through each time (Hank is OK . . .)

Yikes, I can't believe you are running the two dogs TOGETHER through the equipment! Careful, agility (like any sport) has risks of injury, and running two dogs together like that more than doubles your risk. If the dogs fall off or knock each other off the equipment or otherwise frighten or hurt themselves or each other, you'll have a significant training setback. I understand the temptation to go ahead and play with both the dogs together, but on the video, the results you are getting look rather sloppy, the dogs (and you?) aren't really sure what they are supposed to do. Better to really learn more about the sport and about safe and correct handling of one dog over obstacles, before you go pioneering with running two dogs over equipment that is meant for one dog at a time...
