Lounging on the Beach

So innocent.
Here they come!
Sand! It feels so good! They were scared of the waves at first (especially Dagny),
but they soon became fearless and learned how to surf them into shore.

Fishin'

Beach Fishing - We never really caught anything this way (Patrick caught a ribbon fish and I caught a little yellow tail). It was still kinda fun to try.

Dagny and Hank were very interested in what this crazy new activity was;
Unfortunately, they are very bad fishing dogs. When they see the cast and then the little splash out in the water, they assume that this is something that should go fetch. They then start swimming aimlessly out to sea, ignoring our calls. We actually had to go out and grab them a few times to get them to stop!

Patrick catching Hank by the booty hair before he swims out to sea.

Captain Richie - We did have somewhat better luck when we went fishing with "Captain Richie." Dane caught a few snappers, and I caught a shark (Patrick held strong with zero keepers, although he did reel in the shark for me). True, the shark was the first thing that bit all afternoon for me - we'd had a pretty unlucky day according to the Captain.

My first bite was also the last cast of the day because you have to butcher/clean shark right away if you are going to eat it, which we did.

Cutting off the shark's head back on the dock (Mr. Shark was still alive for the ride and varied between kinda comatose and really PO'ed).

Mom was pretty nervous about the whole shark for dinner thing, but Dane was our chef that evening and made a quite tasty meal!
